Product Placement

I saw ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ over the weekend and let me tell you, it was good.  Like, I want to see it again good.  And I have a mini-fictional-character-girl-crush on Lisbeth Salander.  And a Daniel-Craig-get-in-my-bed-all-the-time-crush on Daniel Craig.  The movie was intense.  And awesome.  And I liked it.  Can you tell?

The one and only complaint that I have is the product placement.  Namely, the McDonald’s product placement.  It was so obvious and so out of place.  It didn’t belong there.  It was so apparent that they should’ve just had Ronald McDonald walking through the scene.  And it made no sense!  No part of that movie made me think “mmmm Mickey D’s” and not even the product placement made me think that.  Instead it made me say to my cousin, “that’s so out of place.”  The movie just wasn’t a McDonald’s kind of movie.  It’d be the equivalent of putting a McDonald’s cup in the office of Professor McGonagall in one of the ‘Harry Potter’ movies.  It just wasn’t the right place or the right time.  ‘The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo’ just wasn’t a fast food advertising kind of movie.
