A Tailored Suit, Some Research, and Visualization

Ever since I was out on maternity leave, I’ve been looking for a new job.  Actually, ever since I was pregnant, I’ve been looking for a new job.  It’s no secret that I am not happy where I currently am, and I’ve been wanting to get back into the marketing/advertising/public relations field.  I’ve had a couple of interviews, but nothing has panned out.  Initially I was put off by this, but I’ve come to realize that those jobs just weren’t right for me.

Today, however, I have an interview with a law firm.  But the job is not for another secretary or paralegal position.  It is for a DIRECTOR OF MARKETING position.  I’m not quite sure how I landed the interview, but I’m not going to ask questions.  Instead, I’ve been doing my research on the firm, on the types of law they practice, and on how to market a law firm.  I’ve looked into conferences, seminars, blogs, publicitions, and so forth that all specialize in the types of law this firm handles.  I’m going in prepared.

I’m also wearing a black, tailored suit.  I bought the suit two years ago, and had it tailored upon purchase.  This was one of the best purchases I have ever made.  While the suit is a standard black, I have paired it with a cream colored, silk, ruffled blouse.  The black suit says “I’m all business” but the shirt, while professional, adds a bit of personalization.  It says “I’m also creative and a little fun.”

Ever since I found out about the interview, I’ve been visualizing myself in that particular position.  I’ve envisioned myself achieving success in that position.  I’m going into this interview confident, professional, armed with information, questions, and answers.

I am going to get this job.
